Noted for her clear tone and engaging stage presence, mezzo soprano Claire McCahan is establishing herself as a musician of sincerity and versatility, delivering compelling and honest performances spanning baroque, recital, opera, and contemporary repertoire. Winner of the 2022 National Association of Teachers of Signing Artist Awards, the 2022 Joy in Singing International Art Song Competition, and Grand Prize winner of the 2023 Doug Davis Performance Awards, Claire is an enthusiastic recitalist, recently making her debut at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall alongside collaborative pianist Barbara Noyes. A advocate and performer of new works, she has worked with composers such as Jake Heggie, George Benjamin, Lisa Neher, and Ben Morris with organizations such as the Tanglewood Music Festival, Art Song Colorado, and Catalyst New Music in Boston. Her recent appearances include the American Bach Soloists Academy, the Boulder Bach Festival, Colorado Bach Ensemble, the Tanglewood Music Festival, the New Hampshire Music Festival, Opera Saratoga, Renegade Opera, Boulder Opera, and Raylynmor Opera.
